Vinyl bromide is primarily used in the manufacture of flame retardant synthetic fibers. Its copolymer with vinyl chloride is also used for preparing films, for laminating fibers, and as rubber substitutes. Vinyl bromide is highly flammable liquid and reacts violently with oxidizers.
